About Sheilagh Menzies

My career in art started one day whilst doodling at the kitchen table with my young son. Having taken a lengthy career break it felt so good to start drawing again.

I love the challenge of creating a picture with just a thin black pen.  I have always been drawn to eyes as 'windows to the soul' be they animal or human.  Rather than classical beauty I seek out character.  For me the heavily lined face has so much more to say.  There is beauty in imperfection.
